"Ocean Eco Systems" Mural

I worked with my friend and artist Luz Mack-Durini, teacher Monica Wilson and the 4th Grade Students at Ulysses S. Grant Elementary School in Long Beach, California to create this second mural. The panels are from students' drawings and include whales, costal scene, tide pools, shark, seal turtles, kelp forest, coral reef, and jellyfish.

In addition to creating a permanent work of art for their school, the students learned about ocean eco systems, mosaic art and the creative process.

With special thanks to Donna Eto, Jeff Kaufmann, Vickie Leitzke, Ruth Stewart, Stephen Woodruff, Ivan, Elliot, and Marc Mendelson.

Finished shark panel. The shark has mirror teeth that flash in the sunlight. Students working on the Coastal Scene.
We worked in groups of five students at each panel, with five classes participating.
