Society of American Mosaic Artists -- Excellent resource for the art form; extensive links to other mosaic artists.

Mosaic Atlas -- Worldwide directory of mosaic sites.

Mosaic Works -- Fine art mosaic artist Sonia King offers valuable information for all levels of artists; plus extensive book list and links page.

Watts Towers -- Italian immigrant Simon Rodia created these amazing towers in Los Angeles between the 1920s and 1950s.

Niki de St. Phalle -- Spectacular mosaic scuptures. This site looks at a local scupture garden in Encinitas, California.

The Joy of Shards -- One of my all-time favorite sites; has wonderful virtual tours of mosaic sites and fabulous writing. Excellent article titled "What is Pique Assiette Mosaic?" under the What's New section.

Much of my first exposure to the mosaic world was through books.
Here are a few I turn to frequently.

Gaudi, the Man and His Work by Joan Bergos -- Gaudi also worked with the architect and mosaic artist Jujol on many projects. Both are major inspirations to me.

Mosaic: Techniques & Traditions by Sonia King -- Wonderful history and illustrations of mosaics through the ages from a true master of this art. Tips and projects are top notch. I keep this book by me at all times.

Modern Mosaic by Tessa Hunkin -- I love the author's integration of mosaics into art history. A book I turn to often for its inspiring images and detailed technical information.

Mosaic Art and Style by JoAnn Locktov and Leslie Plummer Clagett -- Collection of contemporary mosaic artists and their work.

Mosaic Art: Design and Inspiration by Martin Cheek -- Fine illustrative mosaics. I have learned much from several of his books. His Sourcebook is also great.

Mosaics by Kaffe Fassett & Candice Bahouth -- When I first read this book, I wanted to immediately break plates. It's quite colorful and both artists' works are full of energy and beauty.
